Our Story

We are both so different but yet, so much the same.

Growing up in the same city and attending the same schools, we had the same circle of friends and shared experiences, but we never had the deep friendship we do today. The universe kept us close, and we noticed each other’s drive to create and the therapeutic joy it brought us.

Our creative journeys took very different paths eventually bringing us to this point in time. 

Vern noticed his initial draw through a photography class and then a poetry/creative writing class, but found a real love for painting sparked by heartache and the solitude of the Covid lockdowns. 

Dove’s path started generations ago with a long family history of gifted musicians and his own affinity with music at a very young age. Feeling a calling to make music his whole life led to decades of writing lyrics and a lot of freestyle sessions, always feeling the creator within. 

The creative bond truly began on Dove’s 40th birthday when after traditionally celebrating, Vern put a paintbrush in Dove’s hand for the first time. That night, we both created multiple pieces of art, and still consider them as some of our favorite work. Little did we know, this night and experience would turn out to be the catalyst for our lifelong commitment being creators. We quickly realized our unique approaches—Vern’s “just do it” attitude and Dove’s organized planning—complemented each other perfectly.

Our differences are our strength and keep it interesting. Vern’s sometimes messy, spontaneous approach balances Dove’s meticulous, thoughtful method. 

This yin and yang dynamic—black and white, introvert and extrovert, careful and carefree—makes our collaboration unique and exciting. Over time, we’ve come to appreciate and celebrate these differences, forging a deep and genuine friendship.

Despite our journeys, outlets, processes, and approaches being different, we share a real bond rooted in our love for creation.
